Challenge

Storm DJs’ WordPress site had become slow, unstable, and resource-heavy due to excessive plugins, conflicting scripts, and layered custom code. This led to high CPU usage, Cloudflare timeouts, poor page speed scores, and a degraded user experience, particularly on key revenue-driving pages such as giveaways and booking funnels.

Solution

We rebuilt core parts of the system with a performance-first approach, removing unnecessary plugins, consolidating functionality into streamlined custom code, and restructuring the front-end for speed and conversion. Key pages were optimised to eliminate render-blocking assets, reduce server load, and improve checkout reliability. Backend processes were also automated using custom integrations with WooCommerce, Google Sheets, and APIs to reduce manual workload and improve operational efficiency.

Results

  • Reduced server CPU usage from ~100% spikes to stable low usage
  • Eliminated Cloudflare 524 timeout errors on high-traffic pages
  • Improved page load speed on key funnels (Giveaways + Checkout)
  • Increased checkout completion reliability for paid entries
  • Removed reliance on multiple heavy plugins, simplifying maintenance
  • Saved ~20 minutes per booking through automation systems
  • Automated order, data, and reporting workflows via API integrations
  • Improved Google PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals performance
  • Created scalable system capable of handling high traffic competitions
